CBD Dosing Guideline Chart

We cannot make dosage recommendations. However, many people who are new to CBD start with a lower amount and gradually work their way up to a dosage that’s right for them.  Some people have used these guidelines to help them better understand how CBD might work for them.

Don’t overdo it when you begin using CBD. Work your way up to higher doses until you know how your body responds, overdoing it can cause fatigue.

It’s wise to begin with no more than 10 mg CBD per day until your body acclimates, and increase from there.  Many people find that 5mg is a good starting point.

The most common reason people look to CBD is for relief from anxiety or pain. Some ingestion methods work faster than others. The one that works best for you may differ depending on your circumstances.

Dosing methods: CBD Oil can be taken:

  • Sublingually, added to food and drinks and rubbed directly on your skin.
  • Concentrates and vape oil are either used with a pin or smoked through a vape pen.
  • Edibles eaten and topicals applied directly to the skin.

Always start at the lowest amount, then add .05 – 5 mg every fourth day and stop increasing when the desired result is achieved. 

Below are guidelines based on available ways of consumption. These guidelines are a good place to begin. These doses are on the conservative side, experiment as you will. Everyone reacts to CBD differently.

Some people find that half of these doses provide what they need to feel balanced, some need more. It will take time to figure out what is right for you.

Sublingual Dosing with CBD for Overall Wellness

Guidelines:

  1. Under 50 pounds: 1-5mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 5-10mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 10-20mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 10-30mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 10-40mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 10-50mg CBD

Sublingual Dosing with CBD for Anxiety

When you suffer from anxiety you know it can sneak up on you. A dropper of CBD oil under your tongue can start working in as little 20 – 30 minutes to relieve that feeling. If you have anxiety on a regular basis, you may want to supplement with CBD daily.

Severity on a scale of 1-3

  1. Under 50 pounds: 1-5mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 6-10mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 11-20mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 31-40mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 41-50mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 61-70mg CBD

Severity on a scale of 3-6

  1. Under 50 pounds: 1-5mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 8-12mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 15-25mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 35-45mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 45-55mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 65-75mg CBD

Severity on a scale of 7-10

  1. Under 50 pounds: 3-7mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 10-15mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 20-30mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 40-50mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 50-60mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 70-80mg CBD

Sublingual Dosing with CBD for Pain

There is nothing sweeter than relief from pain, chronic or acute. Taking CBD oil under your tongue and holding it there for 60 seconds sends the molecule directly into your bloodstream. With the correct dose, you’ll feel relief within 45 minutes to an hour, maybe sooner.

If you have pain on a regular basis, you may want to supplement with CBD daily.

Severity on a scale of 1-3

  1. Under 50 pounds: 5-10mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 11-20mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 21-40mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 41-50mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 61-70mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 81-100mg CBD

  1. Under 50 pounds: 8-12mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 15-25mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 35-45mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 45-55mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 65-75mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 101-150mg CBD

Severity on a scale of 7-1-

  1. Under 50 pounds: 10-15mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 20-30mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 40-50mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 50-60mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 70-80mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 151-200mg CBD

CBD Dosing with Edibles

Edibles are typically available in 10 mg. servings so it’s easy to determine how much you’re getting in any one dose.

If you’re 150 pounds and under we recommend beginning with 10 mg., see how you feel after 90 minutes and then take another 10 mg. if you haven’t achieved the relief or state of mind you’re looking for. If you weigh more check the chart below.

With edibles, due to lower absorption rates from ingestion, higher mg are usually required vs. taking CBD oil sublingually under your tongue or vaping it.

Guidelines:

  1. under 50 pounds: up to 10mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 10-20mg CBD
  3. 151-200 pounds: 15-30mg CBD
  4. over 200 pounds: 20-50mg CBD

Vaping with CBD

Vaping is a fast way to get relief and in fact, one of the easiest. When you need something quick, take out your vape pen, suck it in, and feel better in minutes. The vapor enters your bloodstream through your lungs, so the effects are immediate.

As with oral CBD, don’t overdo it when you begin vaping. Using the charts below, work your way up to higher doses until you know how your body responds.  Remember, overdoing it can cause fatigue.

Whether your vaping to relieve pain or anxiety, it’s wise to begin with no more than 10 mg. per day until your body acclimates, then titrate up from there.  One or two vapes of the pen and your anxiety melts away. You might also notice more overall focus and a feeling of well-being. These guidelines are the amount to begin with PER DAY, not per vape. Work your way up from there.

Determining Dose

First look at the bottle size of your vape juice, then at the mg. of CBD. For example:

A 15 ml. bottle of vape oil that has 150 mg. of CBD. There’s fifteen (15) 1 ml. droppers per bottle equalling 10 mg. per dropper. Dividing from there is easy.

If you fill your tank or pen with a bit less than a 1/2 of a dropper and vape that throughout the day it’s about 5 mg.

Vaping for Pain and Anxiety

  1. Under 50 pounds: up to 10mg CBD
  2. 51-100 pounds: 10mg CBD
  3. 101-150 pounds: 10-20mg CBD
  4. 151-200 pounds: 10-30mg CBD
  5. 201-250 pounds: 10-40mg CBD
  6. over 251 pounds: 10-50mg CBD
